The Politics of Abortion in the US 29 Jan 2010
The affluence and influence of the pro-choice movement in the United States.

There has been much debate and outrage in the United States this week because American football star Tim Tebow is going to appear in a Super Bowl commercial funded by a Christian anti-abortion charity. A 30 second Super Bowl ad costs over $2.5m but the pro-life movement in the US has a lot of money. Abortion is a big issue in America. It's always raised during Presidential elections and the anti-abortion lobby has a powerful voice on Capitol Hill where it is currently trying to derail Barack Obama's healthcare plans. So, why is abortion such a huge topic on the other side of the Atlantic? Why do organisations representing both sides of the argument have so much money and influence? And why is the moral majority so much louder in The States than here in the UK. Professor Jay Kleinberg from Brunel University and Professor Carter Snead from Notre Dame University, IndianaÌý join Jenni toÌýdiscuss the issues.
