Domestic violence
What effect will the new government strategy have?

In the year 2007-2008, 72 women were killed by their partners or ex-partners. One in four women will be affected by domestic violence at some point in their life, andÌýthere is an incident reported every minute. But over half of domestic violence incidents are probably never reported to police, and even when a report is made it is likely to be the result not of one attack but of months or even years of abuse. Today the government publishes their report 'Together We Can End Violence Against Women and Girls:ÌýA Strategy'. The organisation Refuge is also launching their 'Four Ways To Speak Out' campaign to raise awareness of ways to challenge domestic violence. JenniÌýdiscusses the issues with theÌýSolicitor General Vera Baird and Sandra Horley, chief executive of Refuge.
