Gill Whitley 27ÌýFeb 2009
The amateur detective

Gill Whitley spends hours every day tracking down other people's lost relatives. She first discovered that she had a nose for a good search when she found her husband's birth mother 11 years ago. Now, advances in information on the internet mean that she can access births, deaths, marriages and the electoral roll from her back bedroom. Her searches can take "from 10 minutes to 12 months" but Gill doesn’t give up easily and claims that she can count on one hand, the number of reunions which haven't worked. Stuart Robinson went to meet her.
