At 70, Ted Green still has the curiosity and glee of of a 7 year-old, but these days he is one of the most influential figures in the conservation of Britain's ancient trees

Over the last 20 years Ted Green has been instrumental in transforming our perception of the ancient trees from useless and dangerous rotting hulks to historical and biological treasures in the British landscape.
Ted has been an influential adviser to English Nature and the Crown Estates. He has been given an MBE for his work, and he is one of the founders of the Ancient Tree Forum -- a small conservation group with a great deal of clout for its size.
But you might not have expected all this from the young Ted, born in a small village on the edge of Windsor Great Park at the beginning of the Second World War. Things began to change for him when his father was captured by the Japanese and taken prisoner of war.
