As more and more of us in Britain live beyond three score and ten the question of how we'll feed ourselves in our frail decades has become a national worry. In this week's Food Programme Sheila Dillon examines the meals on wheels service and the growing number of lunch clubs for older people.Ìý

Listener Christel Hay, a local authority carer, explains her concerns about the food she sees delivered to her home-bound clients.

Sheila visits Flow Food in Staffordshire, a company which delivers meals on wheels to local customers for the County Council. She spoke to retired Managing Director, Ken Patchen at their Hednesford depot, and Brendan Sullivan of Staffordshire County Council.

In the studio Sheila is joined by Marguerite Patten, OBE, nutritionist and dietician Dr Helen Crawley who wrote the Caroline Walker Trust report Eating Well for Older PeopleÌý and Graham Russell, Managing Director of a division ofÌý Apetito Foods, one of the larger companies providing meals on wheels.

Reporter Sara Parker visits Littlecourt Luncheon Club in Sevenoaks in Kent to watch the volunteers cooking lunch and talk to some of Littlecourt's members.Ìý
