Jack's Way
by Mr Snowy

musicOn the Fantasy Archers topic of a lonely old man sings to the strains of the Tommy Crocker Quintet

And now, the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
They say my mind's unclear
Of my own name I am uncertain
But yet through all this mist
Of moneybags I still have my fill
And now one final twist
I'm changing my will

I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I've had my share of joys and failures
The day I stood with pride
And stormed the Show with my prize dahlias
To think I did all that
And so much more - no names, no pack drill
But best, the best of all
I've just changed my will

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
The family told me what to do
But through it all, if I had doubts
I bought them off with small amounts
They scheme and plot
To cop the lot
But I've changed my will

Bequests, I've made a few
To Jean-Paul, Higgs and Trudy Porter
But when you add them up
Of my whole wealth less than a quarter
You see I own the shop,
Jaxx Caff, the Lodge and old Grey Gables
But more, much more than this
Is left in my will

For what is a man, what has he got?
Well in my case it's quite a lot
I'll give them hell to my death knell
Where it all goes I will not tell
The record shows
(Just Hazel knows)
I've altered my will

More parodies - from Agatha Christie to Damon Runyon
