Dizzy DROS
Dizzy DROS, one of Morocco’s most successful rappers, tells DJ Edu about his smash hit M3a L3echrane, and why hip-hop is changing lives in the country.
Dizzy DROS is one of Morocco’s most successful rap artists. He’s been in the game for more than a decade but he has stayed on top. The video for his latest single M3a L3echrane was viewed over ten million times on YouTube in its first five days. The song is daringly critical of public figures, and, as Dizzy DROS tells DJ Edu, was inspired by the artist’s perception that no one was giving voice to a wave of dissatisfaction amongst people in Morocco.
Dizzy DROS has not only got away with this, but was invited to co-write and perform the theme song for Morocco’s women’s football team, which did their nation proud at the recent World Cup in Australia.
In this programme, Dizzy DROS looks back over his musical journey, discusses his love of football and shares his theory that rap has played a significant role in the improved status of the Darija language. He also tells DJ Edu why he always makes time to talk to young fans.
