Azawi and Museba
Two up and coming female artists under the TIA spotlight this week, Azawi is from Uganda, Museba has Cameroonian and Congolese heritage.
Azawi is a talented songwriter from Uganda, whose solo career is taking off with hits like Slow Dancing and Ache for You. She’s written for countrymen Eddie Kenzo and Vinca, been signed by the Swangz Avenue label, and her face was emblazoned on a Times Square billboard in New York, because she was chosen by YouTube as one of their Black Voices Class of 2022.
Museba describes her music as Afropop and Afrohouse, and says it is highly influenced by her rich cultural heritage. As well as having family roots in Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo, she grew up in Cote d’Ivoire, and has spent time in Nigeria learning about the music business, and in fact, business in general. Her dream is that one day she’ll be able to give up the side hustles and focus on her music completely.
