Mr P: Part one
Mr P, who co-formed the celebrated P-Square, the first Afrobeats supergroup, discusses his debut solo album The Prodigal.
Mr P has undoubtedly had a massive influence on African music. Alongside his twin brother, he formed the hugely successful P-Square, the first Afrobeats supergroup. They set the standard, making an impact on the world stage and forging a path for the explosion of musical talent we’ve seen in the last decade.
Now, more than three years after P-Square’s acrimonious split, Mr P is finally releasing his debut solo album, The Prodigal – and he’s been telling TIA all about it. In the first part of a two-week special, DJ Edu gets the lowdown on the record and its big-name collaborations, as well as Mr P’s take on Nigeria’s coronavirus deniers and African politics including the #EndSARS protests.
