Manal
DJ Edu meets Manal, a Moroccan rapper determined to assert her independence, and plays the best new music from across Africa in the 10-in-10 mix.
Manal is someone determined to assert her independence. It's five years since the Moroccan burst onto the scene with her first single Denia - a track which saw her named Best Female in Northern Africa at the 2015 All Africa Music Awards - and in that time she has fought to maintain control of her music, image and identity. After setting up her own record label, the 27-year-old is finally getting ready to release her debut album, 360, to fans across Africa, Europe and the Middle East. She tells DJ Edu what that title is all about, how she's learned to deal with criticism and why not everyone was happy with her decision to rap.
TIA also delivers your weekly selection of the best new music from across Africa with the 10-in-10 mix.
