Nigerian musicians have played a prominent role in protests against SARS, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, which has a reputation for brutality and extortion. Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Wizkid and many more have spoken out on social media, and Falz, Runtown and DJ Switch are amongst those who have been out on the streets of Lagos with protestors.

In this edition of This Is Africa, Nigerian singer, songwriter and actress Seyi Shay tells DJ Edu why she wanted to add her voice, and entertainment entrepreneur Audu Maikori, founder of Chocolate City, one of Nigeria’s biggest record labels, talks about the changing role of artists in activism – he himself was at the forefront of a protest movement in 2010 called Enough is Enough.
