Listeners Angered by Equal Pay ‘Broadcast Ban’

Since the resignation of the Â鶹ԼÅÄ's China Editor in protest over a gender pay-gap, reporters in support of the move have been censored. Outraged listeners have their say.

The Â鶹ԼÅÄ’s China editor, Carrie Gracie has resigned over what she says is a gender pay-gap in the organisation. The ongoing dispute is being reported on by the Â鶹ԼÅÄ but staff who have shown public support for Gracie’s protest have been forbidden to cover the story. On today’s Over To You, we hear from outraged listeners from around the world.

Also, listeners from within the Arctic Circle can now tune in to the Â鶹ԼÅÄ World Service for the first time. The move means the network will be reaching the Sami people, one of the northernmost indigenous people of Europe - commonly known as the laplanders. Rajan speaks to Nils Martin Kristensen of the new partner station in Northern Norway, GLR.
