Kaitlyn’s Baby is season two of The Con – a podcast exposing scams and the art of deception – from CBC and the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ World Service.

Kaitlyn Braun, a pregnant young woman in crisis, takes dozens of birth workers through an escalating series of disasters – rape, baby loss, and even a coma. One by one, the doulas struggle to support her, to grieve with her, and even to save her life as they are led down a distressing path. And then truth comes out.

In this six-part true crime series, Sarah Treleaven untangles a complex web of lies and deception to ask who Kaitlyn Braun really is and why she does the things she does. It is a story that has puzzled legal experts and one that raises intricate moral and ethical questions. This is not your average con. Kaitlyn Braun is not your usual scammer.

Kaitlyn’s victims never want any of this to happen to anyone again. But at the same time, they do not know what they could have done differently.

Content warning: This season of The Con contains references to medical emergencies, including baby loss. We also deal with sexual assault and there is some strong language.
