Alan Thompson
Our friend and colleague Alan Thompson, a familiar voice on Radio Wales since the early 1990s, died on Thursday 28 September 2017.
On 1 October we remember Alan , airing in the late Sunday night slot that Alan made his home on-air in recent years.
Joining Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Wales in 1991, Alan was first a reporter and then , which was broadcast both on Radio Wales and nationally on Radio Five. , and the show ran for three years.
Many listeners will also have heard Alan hosting weeknight music show The Evening Show, which came to an end in August 2013.
Before passing away in September, Alan could heard every Sunday night playing classic tracks, classic sessions and acoustic performances from Welsh acts.
Fans of the show included , a frequent guest and regular listener.
Alan presented a whole host of programmes over the years, including The Saturday Social, In Concert, I Write The Songs and Sunday Gold, and was the voice and face of several Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ social action campaigns including The Search and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔlessness Awareness Week.
Alan was a frequent dabbler in comedy, with shows like Royal Appointment, My Dog's Got No Nose and Ballinger's Bylines. The quizzes Alan hosted include Tutti Frutti, Rock Of Ages and Pub Genius.
On television, Alan presented two series of Don't Look Back on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One Wales, and hosted the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Wales Arts Awards.
