Clare Balding
Clare Balding has been a presenter on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ radio since she started as a trainee in 1994. She first worked for Radio 5 Live as a sports presenter but has developed into all areas of factual presentation.
A regular on Radio 4, she has fronted Saturday Live, Woman's Hour, Pick of the Week, Broadcasting House and (from 1999) the walking series Ramblings.
On Radio 5 live, Clare co-presents its Wimbledon coverage and last year became the first woman to commentate on a Wimbledon final. She also works on the golf coverage and the Cheltenham Festival.
On television, Clare has been one of the main presenters of the last three Olympics and Paralympics. She is best known as the presenter of horse racing but can turn her hand to anything from rugby league to snowboarding, swimming to bowls. She has made guest appearances on Have I Got News For You, The Apprentice: You're Fired, A Question Of Sport, Test The Nation, University Challenge, The Weakest Link and Mastermind.
She has presented The Lord MayorοΏ½s Show since 2003 and in 2006 was the first voice on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One as she welcomed in the New Year live from the Embankment. Clare has hosted Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two's coverage of Crufts and presented Race Country for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ2.
Clare was voted Sports Presenter of the Year by the Royal Television Society in 2004, has twice been racing journalist of the year as well as racing broadcaster of the year. In 2009, she was praised for "perfect presentation" by the judges of the Broadcast Awards who named the Grand National 2008 as their sports programme of the year.
