Antony Cotton is an actor best known for his role as Sean Tully in . He has been in the soap for 10 years.
Before his part in Corrie, Antony featured in two films, making his film debut opposite Daniel Craig and Derek Jacobi in a film called Love Is the Devil: Study for a Portrait of Francis Bacon. He also played a gang member in the Jude Law romantic thriller The Wisdom of Crocodiles.
Antony’s first high profile TV role came in 1999, in Channel 4’s groundbreaking drama set amid the Manchester gay scene, . He followed this up in 2001 with a foray into comedy, guest starring as the character Damon in series 4 of .
Branching out of acting, Antony was praised for his showstopping performances in ITV’s talent contest Soapstar Superstar in 2007, winning the competition and donating his £200,000 prize to charity. Following his win on the show, he then fronted his own chat show, That Antony Cotton Show.
Antony is proactive when it comes to charities. He supports the and is a patron of the . His appearances on Family Fortunes and Celebrity Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2008 were both to raise money for charity too.
He has won a number of awards for his role in Coronation Street, including the Most Popular Newcomer at the NTAs in 2005, Best Newcomer and Funniest Performance at the Inside Soap Awards in 2006 and Best Actor Award at both the British Soap Awards and Inside Soap Awards in 2007.
In 2011, AntonyΒ was a contestantΒ in , alongside Mark Wright, Fatima Whitbread and the winner Dougie Poynter. He came fourth, missing out on getting to the final by just one day.
