Ashanti Omkar
Ashanti’s extensive knowledge of the Indian Diaspora has led to her becoming one of the well-respected commentators in the UK.
Ashanti Omkar was born in Sri Lanka, raised in Denmark and West Africa. She came to the UK aged 12 where she continued her study of Carnatic Classical music.
Ashanti has featured regularly on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ London and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ West Midlands and has also curated North & South Indian Arts events for the likes of the Southbank Centre, The London Mela and the London Indian Film Festival.
She subsequently went onto be awarded prestigious honours for her performances of classical South Indian music that she had spent several years studying for. Ashanti’s extensive knowledge of the Indian Diaspora has led to her becoming one of the well-respected commentators in the UK in on South Indian cinema & music, Bollywood and wider Indian culture.
Ashanti has featured regularly on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ London and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ West Midlands. She has also curated North and South Indian music, film events Arts festivals for the likes of the Southbank Centre and the London Indian Film Festival.
Ashanti is an avid social media user with an army of loyal followers, with whom she shares her snaps of her latest projects and photos of food! She describes herself as a lover of travel, food, art, music and film.
