Wynne Evans
He's a star of stage and screen - but Wynne also holds court every weekday morning on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Wales, where the listeners are the real stars of the show.
Wynne tells us a bit about himself ...
I was born in Carmarthen in west Wales. These days Cardiff is home, where I also have two kids.
For over 20 years I worked as an opera singer, singing principal roles all over the world including Welsh National Opera, The Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. I played Piangi in the 25th anniversary DVD of Phantom Of The Opera and have given over 200 performances at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
I've had a couple of number one albums in the classical music chart, but nowadays they make up the bulk of the stock at Leigh Delamere service station.
In 2009 I became the voice and face of a well-known price comparison website in which I plays a larger than life opera singer... so basically no acting required, which is just as well.
I’ve made my own television series for both Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Wales and S4C; the latter was a bit of a mission, being a Welsh language programme - and I only started learning Welsh in 2011.
When I was little I wanted to be an Ice Cream Man and still want to get my own van one day. I’ve also represented Great Britain in sumo wrestling……long story but never to be repeated.
What I love about being on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Wales is feeling like I’m part of the best gang ever, and get to be with them on the show every day.
- You can listen to Wynne live on weekday mornings from 11 AM, or anytime via Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sounds.
