β€œI am willing to be spray tanned... and sequinned because that’s what Strictly is about.”

She knows how to make us laugh, but is she hiding some secret Strictly skills?

This Glaswegian gal is about to swap the comedy circuit for the Strictly dancefloor, but Susan’s no stranger to a challenge. Studying law at the University of Glasgow and leaving with a Judge Brennan scholarship, former lawyer Susan once worked with serial killers on death row in North Carolina before settling in the world of corporate law.

All the while Susan spent her evenings polishing up her stand-up routines, before finally waving goodbye to the lawyer life at the age of 30. Her comedy career quickly went from strength to strength, reaching the semi-finals of the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ New Comedy Awards and So You Think You’re Funny in 2006, as well as landing a final spot in the prestigious Funny Women competition in the same year.

Making people laugh isn’t the only thing that makes her tick now, with boxing, writing books and a model railway obsession taking up her time – not forgetting her five cats Pickle Kylie, Daisy Fay Harper, Olivia Pope, Dr Abigail Bartlet and DCI Jane Tennison.

But is she ready to add dancing shoes and bedazzled leotards to that list of loves? “I haven’t worn a dress since my school prom when I was 17, which is almost 30 years ago, and that’s probably the last time I wore heels as well. I wear tweed and waistcoats and haven’t worn a spangle in my life.”

I can’t dance, I never wear dresses or make-up, for goodness sakes I haven’t danced with a man in about a decade!

Her lack of gown experience hasn’t stopped her from getting into the Strictly spirit, though. “I love old movies so I can’t wait to do the Waltz and Ballroom, Fred and Ginger and all that. I also think with my comedy background the Charleston could be a lot of fun.”

Standing at 4 foot 11 inches, Susan’s the shortest celeb to hit the dance floor this year, making her ideal pro partner “someone who wouldn’t mean I injured my neck every time I look at them”.

Whoever Susan gets paired with, she’s sure to keep us all smiling throughout!
