Amanda Abbington: β€˜To say I’m unstable and mad is a cheap shot…’

The actor speaks about her new play and experience on Strictly Come Dancing.

Actor Amanda Abbington joined Anita Rani in the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 4's Woman’s Hour studio on Friday.

She spoke about her experience on the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ TV show Strictly Come Dancing - including the behaviour she claims occurred on set by her dance partner - and the subsequent fallout.

A spokesperson for Giovanni Pernice said: β€œWe are cooperating fully with the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ’s review process” and β€œwill continue to respect the integrity of the investigation and believe it is the right forum for all the evidence to be reviewed.

β€œGiovanni refutes any claim of threatening or abusive behaviour, and having provided the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ with his evidence, is confident that the review will prove this.”

His spokesperson adds that, β€œAs part of the evidence-led review, the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ has shared the allegations and there are none, nor any evidence, that resemble Amanda Abbington’s numerous and variable allegations.”

A ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ spokesperson said: β€œAnyone involved in a complaint has a right to confidentiality and fair process and therefore it would be inappropriate to comment further on individuals. However, when issues are raised with us we always take them extremely seriously and have appropriate processes in place to manage this.”

Amanda also spoke to Anita about being back on stage in London in a play called, When It Happens to You.

Amanda plays Tara, a mother who is desperately trying to hold her family together after her daughter is brutally attacked.
