Nelly Furtado: ‘It was like I was called back’

Nelly Furtado has sold more than 40 million records worldwide, and won awards including a Grammy. Her upbeat, genre-defying pop music dominated the charts in the 2000s, from her break out hits, I’m Like A Bird and Turn Off The Light, to her 2006 album, Loose, and its stand out hit, Maneater.

After taking some time out from the music industry, Nelly found that her music from the early 2000s had been rediscovered by a whole new generation of fans on TikTok. Now she’s back with a new album out later this year, called 7.

Nelly joined Anita Rani on Woman’s Hour and spoke about how her daughter influenced her return to music and how being diagnosed with ADHD aged 43 impacted her life.

You can listen to the full interview on Â鶹ԼÅÄ Sounds - it’s the Woman’s Hour episode from 18 July.
