'My dad invented the air fryer'
Dutch engineer Fred van der Weij invented the air fryer in 2006, so that he could cook crispy food with little oil. His key was the idea he patented - rapid air technology.
His daughter Suus explains how his machine went from a wooden prototype resembling a dog kennel, to the global phenomenon it is today.
Today, there are many different types of air fryer and thanks to it's popularity in recent years, crafty foodies have made entire careers sharing recipes online - especially on TikTok.
Fred died of cancer in 2022, but Suus tells Jane Wilkinson about her family's immense pride in her father.
