'I do feel genuinely honoured to play any kind of part in these young people's lives'

During lockdown, comedian and writer Kiri Pritchard-McLean and her partner became foster carers.

After performing her new show, Peacock, to a boardroom of social workers to get it signed off, she’s now using comedy to try to start a conversation with others about fostering.

Kiri told Woman’s Hour presenter Hayley Hassall that she feels honoured to play a part in these children’s lives, and hopes to have a positive impact, like the adults in her own life did for her.

She spoke about her own experience of fostering, the renewed respect it’s given her for those working in social work, and why she hopes to encourage others to become foster carers.

You can listen to the full interview on Â鶹ԼÅÄ Sounds – it’s the Woman’s Hour episode from 7 May.
