A thousand patients at Leicester's A&E in just one day
Pressures on A&E services in Leicester are at a record-high.
1000 people attended the department in just one day this week with demands on the service described as unrelenting.
That's hundreds more per day than pre-pandemic. Hospital bosses say demand is ever increasing and are urging people only to use the department in an emergency.
It comes as new Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Analysis shows that-- for the first time in October-- more than half of total admissions from A&E were patients who had waited for more than the four hour target.
Rachna Vyas is the CEO of the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Board which coordinates local health services - she explains how they're tackling the high number of people attending the department.
