Land formalization in Tanzania a solution to gender-based violence

Land ownership is an emotive issue in Africa. In many countries, women do not have the right to own and control land because of patriarchy and discriminatory laws. Under customary law, women are treated as minors and therefore cannot be allocated land, inherit it or make decisions about its management and use.
However, as the land formalization Process is ongoing in Tanzania, the government is educating both men and women on their rights to access, own, use,Β and transfer land. This is seen as one way to end gender-based violence.
