Women at Cannes: what will it take to reach gender parity?
'Could do better' – that's the message from the 2022 Cannes Film Festival's attitude towards female filmmakers. There were triumphs such as Riley Keough and Gina Gammell's first film, 'War Pony' winning the Camera D'Or, the prestigious prize for first-time feature filmmakers - but the festival's personal best of putting five female directors into its famous Competition was still criticised as half-hearted. This week, Emma Jones speaks to women movie makers at Cannes about their experiences.
