Yemen: Coronavirus in a War Zone
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ News Arabic’s Nawal al-Maghafi is the first reporter to enter Yemen since the outbreak of Covid-19. She bears witness to a war-torn nation that depends on humanitarian assistance for survival, forced to face a pandemic at a time when the international community has made cuts to aid.
She investigates how the crisis was made worse by the authorities' denial and cover-up.
Yemen is divided between the Houthi group in the north and an internationally recognised government that controls the south. Up until now, the Houthi authorities admit to only four cases of Covid.
