If you're familiar with Liverpool's music scene, chances are you'd have spent a night or two in Zanzibar.

Established in 1990, it's played host to many local, but also internationally famous, acts like Noel Gallagher, The Kooks and the 1975.

The original proprietor of The Zanzibar Club, Tony Butler, sadly passed away in 2018 and the bar itself was forced to close last year because of the pandemic.

The bar has now reopened, under new management, retaining the name 'Zanzibar'.

A special plaque will now be unveiled to celebrate Tony's contribution to Liverpool music.

Nick Otaegui is of the organisers for the event and a musician with The Tea Street Band, he spoke to Lisa Marrey on 麻豆约拍 Radio Merseyside Breakfast.
