General Election

When you think of the most played artists of all time on British television, you could be mistaken in thinking it's the Beatles or the Kinks from the '60s, Elton John or Stevie Wonder from the '70s, The Eurythmics or Wham from the '80s, Blur or Oasis in the '90s, or Eminem, Adele, Ed Sheeran and Lady Gaga from this side of the millennium.
Μύ
But one artist from Malvern surpasses possibly all of those artists put together - yet nobody really knows who he is.
Μύ
Malvern composer Dave Lowe is all over the news - for all the right reasons...he's the man behind pretty much every TV news theme on the planet!
Μύ
And this week, we catch up with him about his latest work - the X Factor and the General Election.

The Live Music Advent Calendar

Throughout the whole of December, we're looking back on a year of live music.
Μύ
This month, hear tracks performed at the Worcester Music Festival, Ledbury's Market Theatre, Kidderminster College, Gordon Bennett's in Hereford, Malvern Cube, The Railway in Redditch, Lakefest at Eastnor Castle, The Norbury Theatre in Droitwich, The Hay Festival, HopFest near Bewdley, the Conquest in Bromyard and at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Maida Vale.

Malvern Winter Gardens

Malvern is well known for its classical connections, but many people are unaware of the town's other musical story.
Μύ
From the early '60s, for a period of around 30 years, Malvern Winter Gardens rocked to the sounds of bands such The Jam, The Kinks, The Who, Pink Floyd, Motorhead, Hawkwind and many more, some of whom were in their infancy at the time.
Μύ
Local charity Rock Around the Hills created an interactive exhibition, thanks to a Β£60,000 grant, celebrating the story of rock, punk and progressive rock at the Winter Gardens from 1961 to 1990.
Μύ
The display features more than 400 posters, tickets, flyers and fanzines, as well as recorded memories from audience members, musicians and promoters who were all part of the scene.
Μύ
Having already been at Malvern Library and the Hive in Worcester, the exhibition has now moved to the airwaves - and we're broadcasting some of those memories every Sunday, from 6pm, here on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Hereford & Worcester.

Artist of the Week

We're catching up with the Ross-on-Wye musician whose new album was inspired by her battles with anorexia and depression.
Μύ
April Shipton is a 26-year-old Christian singer/songwriter from Ross-on-Wye.
Μύ
She started taking singing seriously in 2016 when she released three singles and launched a campaign against modern day slavery, where she highlighted that the average age of a sex traffic victim in England is 13.
Μύ
The inspiration for her music came as a teenager when she experienced some incredible healing from anorexia and depression and is influenced by The Black Keys and Taylor Swift.
Μύ
Having recently moved to Malvern, her new album, 'Panoramic', centres around the theme of mountains.
