Winner of Young Commentator of the Year 2018
Kai Bachini wins with his commentary of 4x100m relay final at the European Championships.
We listened to hundreds of your entries to our Young Commentator of the Year competition! The standard was very high - but our judges have found a winner!
The prize has gone to 11 year old Kai Bachini from Newcastle after he impressed judges on his commentary of the Women's 4 x 100 metre relay final at the European Championships in Berlin.
Kaiβs win was announced on ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 5 Liveβs 606 Football show by judge Alistair Bruce-Ball and co-host Chris Sutton.
His commentary was praised by the judges for recreating the edge-of-the-seat excitement of the event itself.
Head Judge John Murray said: βKai got his commentary right from gun to tape. The building of it was beautiful. The finish, perfect. A really difficult discipline to commentate on, done really well.β
Kai will get the chance to join the commentary teams from ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 5 Live at a sporting event of his choice over the coming year. He'll also get a behind the scenes tour of 5 Live and ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Sport, and receive a Young Commentator of the Year trophy.
