Lyrics:

Wake me up, nana,
before the sun shines
to see my love
and ease this ache of mine.
He’s off to war,
may the luck be with him,
wreath of immortelle
I will give him.
He promised me, nana,
he’ll be back by fall,
oh lucky me,hey, to wed me.
And in faraway highlands
a battle sweeps,
in the green forest
is where he sleeps.
Four years have passed
since he’s been gone,
I’m drowning in sorrow,
ay, I’m still alone.
Lads returned to their ladies,
rocking babies in cradles,
and I’m all alone.
