Life as a single mum

13 years ago single mum Fiona Small feared if she talked about her mental health the authorities would take away her baby.

At the time she was suffering with depression, isolation and rejection after being left by the father of her first baby.

After recovering and building her own resilience, the 38-year-old is now helping other mums that she feels society has labelled and written off.

"I can say today that I am proud of who I've become."

"The reason why I support young mums is because society has really labelled them as the bottom of the pile. They're very socially isolated and excluded."

"Don't give up on you, motherhood is a journey and not a destination, there is no manual to raising children."
