Patti Smith's Prayer for New York

Born on 30 December 1946, punk legend Patti Smith talks about her love for New York in a 1971 interview with Jonathan Miller.

Describing the ugliness and beauty of her adopted home, Smith offers her "prayer" for the city, stating: "New York is the thing that formed me."
