Men's Final - USA v Serbia
Full coverage. America looks good for a third gold in a row having seen off old rivals Spain. But challengers Serbia thrilled in a crushing semi-final triumph over Australia.
Full coverage of the men's gold medal match between USA and Serbia from the Carioca Arena.
The Americans look good for a third gold in a row having seen off the challenge of old rivals Spain in the semi-final, albeit by their lowest score for 12 years, 82-76. The last time USA lost in an international match was 2006, a surprise defeat to Greece at the World Championships, and they are red-hot favourites to secure their place on top of the podium.
Challengers Serbia thrilled in a crushing 87-61 triumph over Australia in their semi-final and will be determined to upset the odds. The former Yugoslavia won medals in basketball in 1968, 1988 and 1996 but this will be the first medal Serbia has secured in the sport as an independent nation. That alone ought to give them confidence but throw in the fact they ran the USA very close in their group stage game - only losing 94-91 - they will firmly believe that anything is possible in the final.
