β€˜It’s a politically motivated ban’

A Comres survey of just over 1000 students for this programme suggests around two thirds of students support the policy of "no-platforming” certain groups.

They include the British National Party, the English Defence League, Hizb Ut-Tahir and a group called the Muslim Public Affairs Committee, a civil liberties group with a focus on non-violent jihad.

We wanted to hear from MPAC on today’s programme and they were willing to join us but the National Union of Students refused to debate with or appear alongside one of the groups they've banned. We asked if they would leave the room whilst we spoke to MPAC but they said they wouldn't appear on the same programme as them.

Here’s what the Muslim Public Affairs Committee had to say.
