Why was the No Platform policy introduced by the NUS?

The No Platform policy was inspired in part by the rise of racist groups like the National Front and by the Conservative MP Enoch Powell who'd given a speech in the late 1960s, which became known as the "rivers of blood" speech, which was anti immigration and anti-race relations legislation.
