Professor Alice Roberts visits the house where Frankenstein was born
In this clip taken from the 2014 Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ series The Secret Life of Books, Professor Alice Roberts travels to Geneva to visit the house where Mary Shelley’s most famous story Frankenstein was born. During the summer of 1816, she and Percy Shelley had been invited to stay there by the poet Lord Byron and Shelley’s own words are used to describe how the idea came to her in a waking dream. Mary Shelley died on February 1st 1851.
