World War 1 at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ: Countesthorpe Soldiers
William Buckingham and Robert Gee were two soldiers who were awarded the Victoria Cross during World War 1.
They were both brought up at the Countesthorpe Cottage Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔs, a ground breaking place where children and orphans from the workhouse in Leicester were brought out to the fresh air of the countryside in Countesthorpe and brought up in cottages with house mothers and fathers.
