Blind People Severely Hit By Council Cuts

The charity RNIB claims that blind & partially sighted people are being left isolated in their own homes as a results of funding cuts. Around 19,000 people in Northants relying on one rehab officer.

The charity, the RNIB has published a report which says blind and partially sighted people are being left isolated in their own homes as a result of funding cuts. The RNIB says that around 19,000 blind and partially-sighted people in Northamptonshire relying on just one County Council rehabilitation officer.

Reporter Tom Percival sets out the detail of the report. Stuart talks to Claire Lawrence from the local branch of the RNIB, to Janice Tillett from Northampton who was born partially sighted, and to John Wood from the Northamptonshire Association for the Blind, based in Kingsthorpe.
