Roads Could Be Downgraded To Save Maintenance Costs

If more of Northants rural roads were single carriageway they would last longer & save money. It's just one idea from the County Council which says it doesn't have the money to maintain all its roads.

Making more of Northamptonshire's country roads single carriageway would mean they would last longer and save us all money.

That's just one of the ideas being suggested by Northamptonshire County Council, which says it doesn't have enough money to maintain all of its highways to the standard it would like.

The council could even consider closing some roads in the county which aren't used very often.

Politics Reporter Willy Gilder talks to David Farquhar, the Assistant Director for Highways for Northamptonshire County Council, and reporter Tom Percival sets the scene in the village of Tiffield.
