Printing and creating repeated printing patterns
Artist Lynn Flavell talks about how she draws inspiration from fresh fruit and vegetables and describes the markets in Spain, where the sellers arrange their produce in patterns. She demonstrates ways of making a repeated pattern using a template and paint with a fruit shape, asking questions of the audience as she works. Lynn encourages them to find patterns inside fruit and vegetables alongside images of several examples. The artists then shows how to paint on vegetables cut in half to create repeated printing patterns as well as experimenting with different colours. Finally she introduces the work of Giuseppe Arcimboldo, who painted fruity faces and encourages the audience to create their own pieces of art using fruit or vegetables.
