Adam Tomlinson 27/03/2013 Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio York Flood Hero Awards

The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio York Flood Hero Awards were held at the Guildhall in York on Tuesday 26th March. These awards were inspired by our listeners who contacted us during the floods of September and November 2012. People who fell victim to flooding, and those who came very close, told us about the commitment and public-midnedness of many special individuals and teams. They called them their Flood Heroes. They included neighbours, council workers, emergency services and volunteers. The floods of September and November devastated homes and businesses around York and North Yorkshire, yet tireless work to defend properties helped to reduce the impact. We were so impressed by these stories of determination to help when it mattered most that we decided to formally recognise this good work.
