Capoeira - an introduction
Capoeira is a physical discipline combining elements from dance, acrobatics and martial arts. Brazilian dancer Claudio Campos explains the origin of Capoeira to athlete Colin Jackson. Developed by African male slaves to disguise their combat moves, dancers perform the basic moves of Jingra and kicking. The dance is not choreographed; dancers create a fluid body language as they perform. Colin takes part and comments on the health benefits.
