How the changing seasons affect the blackbird
How blackbirds cope with the changing of the seasons. A male blackbird is singing to try to attract a female. The female is collecting twigs and grass to build a nest. A fortnight later there are four open-beaked chicks in the nest, waiting to be fed. The male blackbird listens for worms in the lawn. The young leave the nest during summer. By autumn only the male is left in the garden. It is hard for birds to find food in winter. The presenter builds a bird table to help. As spring arrives, the male blackbird sings once more.
