KCC criticised for refusing to pay elderly dementia patient's care

Kent County Council has been strongly criticised by the Local Government Ombudsman over its refusal to pay for an elderly dementia patient to go into residential care.
An official report into the incident found maladministration, and KCC has now agreed not only to pay out the cost of the care, but also to change the instructions it gives to staff on how to deal with such cases, and to identify any other people who might have been adversely affected (06:07, 07:07 and 08:08).
Thousands of Kent's commuters got their first real taste of how the Olympics will affect their journey over the next fortnight.
