New licensing laws, animal cruelty, scrap the penny & ban the chuggers

Northants police explain the new licensing laws, the RSPCA face a rise in animal cruelty, & calls to scrap the 1p coin and to ban the chuggers in Northampton.

Stuart talks to Sergeant Mark Worthington from Northamptonshire Police about new licensing laws being introduced this week and about the seminars in Northamptonshire to explain them to pub & club licensees and their staff.

The number of people convicted for cruelty and neglect to animals rose by nearly a quarter last year, according to figures announced by the RSPCA. Stuart talks to Sally Case, Head of Prosecutions at the RSPCA, and to Michelle Peers-Ross, Vice-Chair for Northamptonshire of the national charity Horsewatch.

Maxine Aldred, Northamptonshire Regional Organiser of the Federation of Small Businesses, tells Stuart why they want to see the 1p coin scrapped.
