Woman conned by Kent stand-up comedian lost over Β£70,000

The victim of a Kent conman says she may have to sell her home, after he fleeced her of over Β£70,000.

Sue Hall lent the money to sixty-five year-old Dave Cook, from Gravesend, after she met him through an online dating agency.

When he wrote a cheque to pay her back, it bounced.

He is now been jailed for two years, but because he has no assets, Maidstone Crown Court could only order him to repay a nominal sum of Β£1.00( 06:07: 07:07 and 08:07).

The UK Border Agency appears unable to focus on its key task of tracking and removing illegal immigrants, overstayers or bogus students from the country. That is according to a committee of MPs which has criticised the agency for failing to deport Foreign National Prisoners. The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Affairs Committee says almost 4,000 foreign offenders are back living in our towns and cities, rather than being removed from the country.

One of Kent's biggest live music events will go ahead again this year, despite objections. "Lounge On The Farm" in Canterbury lost its permanent licence after problems last year, but has satisfied the council it is now capable of meeting the concerns of nearby residents (06:41, 07:22 and 08:39).
