The plan to cure the single lane bottleneck on the A21 between Tonbridge and Pembury by making it dual carriageway has been on and off the cards for the last 28 years.

There is growing frustration from both Kent County Council which has found several millions to get the scheme moving and Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council.

It is No Smoking Day today. If you are a former smoker, did the smoking ban introduced five years ago help you quit? We have been taking a look at how many people in Kent have given up the habit with the help of the NHS over the past few years.

In 2006, just before the ban, 7,800 people in the county gave up smoking. Last year that went up to more than 11,500 - but the increases have been mainly in East Kent and Medway, whereas the number of people in West Kent quitting has remained about the same both before and after the smoking ban.

We will find out this morning whether Medway will become Britain's newest city.

A total of 26 areas across the UK are competing for the right to become a city as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Bookmakers, William Hill, have Reading down as the favourite - with Medway second.
