A group of six Kent MPs has signed a joint letter to the prime minister asking for an urgent meeting with him to clarify the government's position on possible plans to build an airport in the Thames Estuary.
The letter says they do not believe the public supports the idea and they are concerned how the scheme, estimated to cost around Β£50bn, would be paid for.
Mark Reckless, Tracey Crouch, Gordon Henderson, Rehman Chishti, Gareth Johnson and Adam Holloway all represent constituents in Medway and North Kent.
They are urging the David Cameron not to proceed with the plans but to look at spare capacity at other airports in the South East.
We speak to Mark Reckless, Rochester and Strood MP, who explains what has prompted these discussions.

UK haulage companies have to pay fees and tolls for driving around Europe but foreign registered trucks pay nothing to use Kent's roads.
We hear from Paul Carter, leader of Kent County Council, who first raised the idea in 2008, and Transport Minister, Norman Baker.
Jack Semple, director of policy at the Road Haulage Association, also chats to John and Clare about the implications of charging UK hauliers too.
And independent experts say allowing night flights at Manston would not create the number of jobs that owners Infratil predicts.
Thanet Council will decide whether or not to allow a limited number of aircraft to take off and land a limited number of planes outside normal operating hours.
We chat to David Foley, Chief Executive of Thanet and East Kent Chamber of Commerce, and Phil Rose, Founder member of the No Night Flights Group.
We also get the views of Tony Dixon, Editor of Airliner World.
