Isle of Grain gas terminal safety concern

Residents on the Isle of Grain who live near to a huge natural gas terminal have demanded answers from Medway Council.

Residents on the Isle of Grain who live near to a huge natural gas terminal have demanded answers from Medway Council. More than 100 of them turned up at a public meeting last night to discuss its safety.

The plant was developed three years ago and is now one of the largest in the country, but Medway Council only issued its updated emergency plan for Grain village this
Summer, following public pressure.

Money advisers in Medway say the people coming to them for help now have an average debt of Β£34,000. That is nearly double what it was a year ago.

The staff at the area's Citizen's Advice Bureau are so angry they have taken the unprecedented step of demonstrating outside a money-lending shop.
